The Tatiana Giraud Foundation helps victims of rape and sexual violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The mission of the TG Foundation is to:

• Actively contribute to the restoration of women, children, families and communities that have been victims of rape and sexual violence in the DRC; and
• To re-establish communities in the DRC where women and children are valued and respected

We achieve this by working closely with grassroots organisations that treat and counsel victims of rape and sexual violence. We raise awareness of their plight within our communities by holding fundraising events.

The TG Foundation's short-term goals are:

• To distribute grants to grassroots organisations that treat women and children who are victims of rape and sexual violence in order for them to continue receiving medical and psychological care
• To distribute grants to grassroots projects that reintegrate women and children who have been victims of rape and sexual violence back into the community

The TG Foundation's long-term goals are:

• To provide grants to build well-equipped medical centres in remote areas in the DRC to enable them to treat victims of rape and sexual violence
• To provide grants to build training centres in the DRC that encourage women who have been victims of sexual violence to learn a trade or professional skills that will allow them to regain their financial independence; and
• To provide grants to support projects that build orphanages for children who have been orphaned by mothers who were raped

The TG Foundation currently provides grants to Gesom Hospital in Goma to sponsor traumatic fistula operations for victims of rape. Gesom is an NGO which was created in the province of North Kivu in Goma in 2002. One of the main objectives of Gesom is to provide treatments at reduced fees to the most vulnerable members of the North Kivu population. In 2004 Gesom took charge of acts of violence against women and girls and in particular victims of sexual violence and those displaced by war.

The TG Foundation is managed by a group of UK-based trustees, volunteers and one member of staff. They are all committed to the vision of the TG Foundation, which is for the Democratic Republic of Congo to be a blueprint for the human rights of women and children in Africa, as rape and sexual violence are a violation of the human rights of women and children.
